Frequently Asked Questions

What is ZipaClip?

ZipaClip is a free, easy-to-use, totally private, mobile messaging app that gives you complete control over who can view your video (or text) messages. With ZipaClip, your personal messages can only be viewed by those you intend, and can be recalled at any time.

Is ZipaClip really Free?

Yes. ZipaClip really is free – within limits: ZipaClip is Free to download and send unlimited 30-second video messages; ZipaClip is Free to receive any video message; and ZipaClip is Free to send and receive text messages.

ZipaClip is not free when sending a video message over 30 seconds or all the way up to 5 minutes. For these longer messages you will need to have Messaging Minutes – and ZipaClip credits your account with 30 Free Messaging Minutes when you register to help you get started.

When you download and register your ZipaClip app, you are automatically credited with 30 Free Storage Minutes. When the total of your 'sent messages' exceeds the 30 free minutes, you will need to purchase more Storage Minutes.

Can you explain more about Messaging Minutes?

Easy! Video messages over 30-seconds or up to 5 minutes maximum require a message minute. Minutes are calculated based on each sent video: if you send a one-minute video to four friends at the same time, you are only charged for one minute. Your account’s Messaging Minutes balance appears next to the hourglass icon in the app. You may purchase additional Messaging Minutes in blocks of time through ZipaClip using your iTunes account and your account is automatically credited.

In-App Messaging Minutes Options
20 Messaging Minutes: $0.99
40 Messaging Minutes: $1.99
60 Messaging Minutes: $2.99
120 Messaging Minutes: $5.99

Messaging Minutes are used in full minute increments, with rounding at the 30–31 second point. If your message is 30 seconds or shorter, no Messaging Minutes are required.

Can you explain more about Storage Minutes?

Sure. Each of your encrypted video messages are securely stored to ZipaClip on the cloud. Your account’s Storage Minutes balance appears next to the cube icon in the app. Once the total of your sent video messages exceeds the 30-minutes of Free Video Storage (approximately 60 video messages of 30-seconds each), you may elect to delete stored videos to reduce storage or you may purchase a Storage Minutes Annual Subscription through ZipaClip using your iTunes account.

One Year Storage Minutes Subscriptions
75 Minutes = $ 9.99 per year
150 Minutes = $17.99 per year
1,500 Minutes = $29.99 per year

Only one subscription may be active at a time and is valid for one year from date of purchase. Your subscription will not automatically renew, and we’ll remind you about it when it’s about to expire.

If you buy a second subscription plan during that same year, the one-year period restarts upon the purchase of the new plan. Any Storage Minutes in your account become inactive as the new plan supersedes the previous plan.

Storage Minutes apply with free-to-send, 30-second videos and paid videos of longer than 30-seconds. Videos of 30 seconds or less in length use 30 seconds of storage. Longer videos use full minutes, rounding at the 30–31 second point. See the Time and Storage Minutes below.

Time
0:00 – 0:30 = 0.5 Storage Minute
0:31 – 1:30 = 1 Storage Minutes
1:31 – 2:30 = 2 Storage Minutes
2:31 – 3:30 = 3 Storage Minutes
3:31 – 4:30 = 4 Storage Minutes
4:31 – 5:00 = 5 Storage Minutes

Note: If you ZipBack a message, it is not automatically deleted and is still stored. Sent text messages do not count against storage.

Do I need a Wi-Fi connection to send a ZipaClip video?

No, but depending on your connection speed, it may be faster to send video over Wi-Fi.

How is ZipaClip secure?

ZipaClip works through encryption. Your messages are delivered to the cloud in a secure pipeline and then encrypted for viewing access only. When you send a message, it is never stored on the device of the person you sent it to, so they can’t forward it to others. They see only an image and ZipaClip then streams your messages encrypted to their device. And, by setting your personal dot-lock code, only you can control who sees your private texts and videos in the ZipaClip app. Dot-lock provides you additional protection as your code is encrypted along with your messages.

What if I forget my dot-lock code?

If you forget your dot-lock code, no worries. Uninstall the app, reinstall it, and pick up where you left off creating and sharing private messages. All of your sent and received messages will reappear.

What if I forget my log-in password?

Just tap the Forgot Password button on the sign-in screen, enter your email address and we will send you an email with a link to reset your password.

What if my friends can't see the private videos or texts I sent them?

Friends need to download the free app. Once they do that, your messages will be waiting for them to view and respond to. If you send a message to a friend who doesn't have ZipaClip, they will automatically be invited to download the app and directed to the App Store.

Everyone who downloads the app will need to confirm the download by following the link sent to them to their registered email or SMS number. Just our way of making sure we are protecting your privacy.
